Our story
Welcome to the story of a 30-year-old dental technique
Darko Mehun, one of the Co-Founders of Primelab is Co-Owner and initiator of the successful dental laboratory Mehun Lab, which has been operating in Croatia since 1993. Numerous clients, including some of the most prominent dental clinics in the area, have recognized the quality of work organization and high technological criteria that adorn the work of the Mehun laboratory.
A constant in the work is investing in knowledge and premium quality materials. Mr. Mehun has personally been a technical consultant for many years in developing new materials and protocols for several dental companies, of which Dentsply Sirona should single out. Often as a beta tester, Mehun participated in pre-clinical tests of materials such as ZrO2 (Cercon), glass-ceramic ZLS, and composite materials. In the last few years, he has intensively participated in the establishment of new protocols in digital dentistry. The development and testing of CAD programs and their implementation in everyday dentist-laboratory communication is the focus of Mehun’s interests.
Antonija Majhen, Co-Founder of Primelab, graduated Dental Technology 1999. in Zagreb, Croatia. She started her career at Mehun Lab. While working there, throughout 16 years, she gained invaluable knowledge and experience in the professional field.
In 2015, for personal reasons, she moved to Ireland. While working in several laboratories throughout Ireland, she expanded her knowledge and gained insight into the way and system of work in Dental laboratories and Dental Clinics in Ireland. With experience in all aspects of Dental Technology her focus is to continue delivering the best quality dental restorations using latest materials and technology, maintain good communication with dentists, clinical staff and patients.
PrimeLab is a new Dental Lab that aims to apply the knowledge and experience gained in the Mehun laboratory in the Republic of Ireland. At the same time, in close cooperation with Lab Mehun, Antonija will participate in developing and testing new materials and digital protocols Lab Mehun is a guarantee of seriousness and a technologically superior approach, and the materials it uses in its work belong to the premium segment, so the name under which we appear on the market of the Republic of Ireland is no accident. PrimeLab. Premium Dental Lab!
Who we are…
We are Artists, the fortunate few that managed to combine art, something that we are passionate about into something beautiful and at the same time functional to make “art pieces” for everybody with the result of making your life quality better but with one side effect – making your smile bright and wide again.
A little crew, a friends with over 100 years of experience among us to be able to achieve something really worth making combining metal work, sculpting, designing … a lot of knowledge and hard work.
Started way back in the 90’s as a small dental laboratory with only few of us, the visionaries, the relentless bunch craving for knowledge and expression, we worked and worked to create something that we are today.
With time we were fortunate enough to spread and create more dental labs, hire more new dental “artists”, helping more people and supporting more and more dentists.
So now, in 2023 we are here in Ireland as PRIMELAB – digital dental design laboratory based in Carlow town, continuing to provide same high-end products and services to our new customers.
We still use high end quality materials for our work coupled with latest dental technologies and practises to make our work stand out by making it as natural as possible.
We did not forget one of the most important part – YOU! The dentists who transform and publish our art. Without you, your knowledge and expertise, all of that would not be possible.
Our mission…
Permanent investment in knowledge and many years of experience in solving even the most complex dental tasks have resulted with competence. Our work is our passion.
The policy of monitoring the quality of work has placed us among the most competent laboratories in Southeast Europe. Now we are expanding our operations and work philosophy to the Republic of Ireland. A country that has many points of contact with our homeland. From a wide soul to a vast diaspora. Many of our compatriots found their home in Ireland. In addition, the business opportunities offers the Republic of Ireland enable us to share our experience and knowledge with you.
Certified materials and dedication to work guarantee the safety and quality of our work. Our mission is to provide a exceptional quality products at a reasonable price.
Our approach…
In our opinion, dental prosthetics today are going in two directions. The first is Aesthetic dental prosthetics, and the second is functional. The aesthetic are primarily intended for people (patients) who lose self-confidence due to appearance.
The aesthetic solutions offered by today’s technology and materials can provide the desired smile, thereby restoring the shaken self-confidence and improving the quality of life for each of us. The DSD protocol allows us to create a sketch (or more) of the final work, and on that track in the triangle of the dentist, patient, and technician, we find a satisfactory solution for every challenge.
A beautiful smile is no longer a privilege but a real possibility. The works that are done to improve aesthetics are primarily veneers or veneers and solo crowns. The materials we use are certainly highly aesthetic from the field of glass ceramics, ZrO2, or feldspathic ceramics.
Functional rehabilitation is a somewhat different procedure. Longer and more extensive, but necessary when it comes to the overall health of each of us. Along with an acceptable aesthetic solution to the problem, rehabilitation implies a complex approach to solving the patient’s dental condition. Functional analysis based on the close cooperation of dentists and technicians takes place in seven steps.
The first step is a detailed initial examination by a dentist. During the examination, the clinical condition found in the patient’s mouth is determined. Then follows the therapy plan, which is also determined by the dentist. Based on the plan, the technician creates the so-called “Wax up” and “Mockup.” This step can do digitally, analogically, or by combining both techniques. In addition to being the first proposal of a definitive solution, the “mockup” can serve as a basis for temporary prosthetic works, with the help of which the patient gets an impression of the definitive work in real-time. The dentist then definitively prepares the teeth, checks the functionality of the work, and the technician creates the work in the definitive material and form. After cementing, the functionality and aesthetics of the definitive work are checked in the dental office, with final photography and documentation.
Our choice of materials ranges from classic CoCr through Titanium to metal-free PEEK or hybrid materials. The source is big, and our laboratory is equipped to work with all available materials. Both, equipment and knowledge.
